Walking Beam

At the core of the walking beam is a flat cam unit featuring two output axes and a single input drive shaft (Tandem). The primary advantage is the ability to control two output axes with one motor, generating two independent mechanical movements that are synchronized with absolute precision and repeatability.

Through a kinematic mechanism—which can vary in complexity—connected to the two output axes, various movement combinations are achieved for a wide range of industrial sectors and diverse applications.

The walking beam is the classic example of Tandem unit utilization. Other common uses for Tandem units include:

  • Pick and place of components.

  • Dispensing glue or paint along a predefined perimeter using a nozzle positioned at the end of the kinematic linkage.

  • Filling, washing, or inspecting ampoules and vials moving along a line.

  • Shape inspection using a camera system.

  • Profiling shapes on soft materials.

  • Marking/Scribing on plastic or ferrous materials.
